At the end of January, Astronomy teacher Mr Thavish, took our Year 10 and Year 11 Astronomers on an Enrichment study visit to the Royal Observatory at Greenwich. Pupils attended workshops run by professional astronomers and were treated to a live show at London’s only Planetarium. The weather was good, and they enjoyed exploring the park grounds. Special attention was paid to the Prime Meridian line, the Time Ball, and the Millennium Sundial.
These historical features of the observatory appear prominently in the GCSE curriculum; it was great to see them in person.
