Head of Religion
Isobel Boyson, Head of Religion, studied Theology and Religious Studies at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, and has been teaching in East London for four years. She is passionate about using Religion lessons to help students to examine critically beliefs that shape our world, and to equip them with the knowledge to have informed debates about philosophical, moral and political issues related to religion.
Religion at ELSS gives students a firm knowledge of the core beliefs and scriptures of major world religions. This foundation then allows students to explore big questions about religion and its place in the world, and debate them in an informed and considered way. Students explore key issues relevant to understanding current affairs such as ‘does religion encourage violence?’ as well as exploring philosophical issues including ‘does suffering prove God doesn’t exist?’
