Key Stage 4

Year 9 will focus on listening, composing and performing.
“Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, and life to everything… Without music, life would be an error.” Plato.
Music is a well-regarded rigorous academic subject, as well as a creative discipline. The skills and understanding acquired in music are broad, ranging from subject-specific technical knowledge, through the practical aspects of composition and performance. At ELSS the priority is to teach pupils to read and notate music. As a department, we offer choir and guitar ensembles, keyboard lessons and other individual lessons through the Newham Music Hub.
