Key Stage 3
Year 7 is focused on – Introduction to Programming.
Year 8 is focused on – Applications of Computers.
Key Stage 4
Some pupils may sit Computer Science GCSE. This is a linear qualification examined in 2018. The specifications have yet to be finalised. We anticipate announcing the examination board in the summer of 2015.
Year 9 will focus on: the theoretical and practical elements of Computer Science which will enable students to gain an insight on how technology is used in the work place.
Computer Science allows students to master a new programming language and apply it to a problem. Being able to then use coding to control hardware completely changes the way we deal with technology. Best of all Computer Science is fun and creative. Teaching every child to code is the best way to give them a way to understand what computers can do. We aim to give pupils access to real programming languages used in the IT industry from Java to Python.
