Key Stage 3
Year 7 is focused on ‘Particle Theory’ and ‘Chemical Reactions’.
Year 8 is focused on ‘Bonding and Energy’.
Key Stage 4
All pupils will sit a Chemistry GCSE. This is a linear qualification examined in 2018. The specifications have yet to be finalised. We anticipate announcing the examination board in the summer of 2015.
Year 9 will focus on:
Chemistry is everywhere in the world around us, connecting the other sciences and making life’s mysteries a little less mysterious. At ELSS we begin with the fundamental principles of Chemistry such as atomic structure and bonding in order to gain a greater understanding of how atoms and molecules interact. This links the biochemistry of the human body to the physical behaviour of materials. Chemistry explains how things work. If you are able to understand how chemistry works, you will be able to separate reasonable expectations from pure fiction.
